Description :
The Copernicus HPCM L-band SAR-mission ROSE-L will be operated in the same orbit as Sentinel-1 (and presumably Sentinel-1 Next Generation). This will allow the systematic gathering of radar observations, in very similar geometry, both at C- and L-band, generating a dual-frequency SAR 'system of systems'. The capabilities of such a supersystem arguably exceed the sum of it parts, opening a way to new applications that are not possible with either of the C-band or L-band systems alone.
The purpose of this session is to discuss synergies and opportunities provided by the system of systems, and to gather inputs and recommendations from the community for preparatory scientific support activities ESA should initiate in order to prepare the community for the S-1 + ROSE-L era.

Dr. Malcolm Davidson (ESA ESTEC)
